Not what I was expecting Aug 22, 2009
By Healthy Foodie I'm pretty surprised no one else has mentioned how religious this book is. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's a pretty significant portion of the book. I thought I was buying a book based on nutrition research, but instead I got prayers and Bible verses mixed with inaccurate nutrition facts. For example, they state that any heating of oil is damaging in your body. This is only true if you heat the oil over its smoke point. There were several other statements made in the book that left me scratching my head.
If they wanted to make this a religious-based nutrition book they should have at least let the reader know BEFORE they buy it. I was expecting something completely different than what I received. I think this book is best for Christians who are beginning to learn about nutrition.

Tried it, got healthy Feb 02, 2008
By Arlene Dodson

My husband and I tried the eating and exercise from this book. We not only shed pounds quickly, we feel healthier than ever--less pain and allergies. Blood tests before and after showed reduced inflamation, lower triglycerides, huge increase in red blood cells and infection fighting T-cells. I finally feel like I'm cooking in a healthy way. Dr. Couey has the science behind it and Robin's recipes and hints on buying and cooking healthy really help me transition to a lifestyle I think we can keep. A nice sidelight is that this helped my lifetime reflux and constipation.
I gave my first copy to a friend and referring my friends. Now I'm ordering another one.

A single volume course of informed instruction Mar 03, 2008
By Midwest Book Review The collaborative work of culinary expert Robin Jeep, nutrition expert Richard Couey, and health/nutrition writer Sherie Pitman Ellington, "The Super Antioxidant Diet And Nutrition Guide: A Health Plan For the body, Mind, And Spirit" is a single volume course of informed instruction specifically designed for the non-specialist general reader seeking to maximize their physical health, well-being, and disease prevention. Enhanced with the inclusion of 171 gourmet quality recipes rich in antioxidant factors, "The Super Antioxidant Diet And Nutrition Guide" will enable anyone to naturally attain and maintain their ideal weight, develop a natural desire for healthy foods, learn how to reduce stress and increase physical energy, enhance memory and mental clarity, strengthen their body's immune system, slow down the aging process, and maintain the highest quality of life they can. In addition to 'kitchen cook friendly' recipes ranging from an Indian Vegetable Curry, to Pomegranate Poached Pears with Berry-Berry Sauce, to a Tofu-Vegetable Chili, "The Super Antioxidant Diet And Nutrition Guide" also features meal plans, step-by-step instructions to consistently achieving improved health, a plan for moderate physical fitness, and practical advice for working for (and achieving) personal growth. Nicely organized into major sections dealing with Reclaiming Health, Vibrant Cuisine (with a section of full-color photographs), and a 'Journey to Wholeness', "The Super Antioxidant Diet And Nutrition Guide" concludes with extensive Endnotes and a Resources section, making it an ideal and strongly recommended addition to personal, family, and community library Health & Medicine reference collections and supplemental reading lists.

The Super Antioxidant Guide - - a super book!!! Mar 05, 2008

The Super Antioxidant Diet and Nutrition Guide by Robin Jeep and Dr. Richard Couey is outstanding in my opinion. The lifestyle changes that are recommended provide both weight loss and improved health. When I started the class and purchased the book, I was not interested in weight loss, but had been sick for about a year. This program has improved my immune system and helped me to to feel energized and healthy. As stated in the book, the body has a miraculous way of healing itself if nourished properly. I highly recommend the guide and the class. Additionally, the book includes delicious, world-class recipes, a section on how to arrange your kitchen, tips on shopping for healthy foods, and much more. For those interested in weight loss, ideal weight can be achieved as a natural progression following this guide. If you are fortunate enough to have access to the class, don't miss it!

Angst-free Eating for a Healthy Body and Mind Feb 28, 2008
By Sally Odegaard Robin Jeep's book offers the whole package--good nutricious food, delicious recipes and the science to back it up. I no longer feel hungry, nor have cravings for sugar-laden food. I've lost over 11 lbs in 6 weeks with essentially no effort. And I have tons of energy and sleep better. I'm a simple cook, so I haven't tried many of the recipes, mostly I eat blueberry-spinach-kale-flaxseed-pomegranite-juice smoothies (yummier than it sounds)for breakfast, have gigantic salads for lunch, and cook simple veggie, bean or fish dishes for dinner. The dishes she made in her cooking class were terrific--especially the creamed kale with onions and chocolate ice cream. I plan to work through her recipe book to expand my repetoire. This is a great book. Do as I did and send it to someone you love and want to keep around and frisky for a long long time.
