excellent product but pricey Mar 16, 2010
By cat-bear I like this formula, but it's so expensive I switched to another "ACES" product. which unfortunately didn't have mixed tocopherols, had too much vitamin C, as well as an unpleasant odor. all the other cheaper formulas I researched had the acidic type of vitamin C. so I'm back with Dr. Weil.

Great for Vegetarians Jul 04, 2010
By z_bookworm What makes this a magnificent find for vegetarians and vegans is the capsule material. Oily supplements like Vit. E and the carotenes have to be made in a gel-type capsule as regular capsules and vegicaps would be dissolved by them. That almost always means they are made of animal gelatin. This superior antioxidant supplement uses the very hard to find vegetarian "licaps". The mfr. of the licaps reserves the right to test supplements using their product for proper potencies, adding an extra layer of quality control.
If you're up on the latest on Vit. E, you know that mixed tocopherols containing high amounts of gamma tocopherol is the way Vit. E exists in natural food sources and is the form conferring the most protection. This supplement is one of the few which has this more expensive Vit. E. It also contains hard-to-find eye protective astaxanthin and zeaxanthin.
All in all, a great addition to your vitamin regimen, especially if you avoid animal products.

Not the same as the formula sold through Dr. Weil's website Nov 19, 2011
By Anonymous I'm a huge fan of Dr. Weil and his supplement recommendations. At different times, I've subscribed to the Dr. Weil Vitamin Advisor program, but I found that I could get the supplements through Amazon for less money (and free shipping), so I decided to go that route. However, when I received this item, I realized that it wasn't the same as the formula sold through Dr. Weil's website. The formula you buy from Dr. Weil directly is just one antioxidant capsule per day, not two. In addition, this standalone bottle is missing Lycopene (10 mg), Phytoene (800 mcg), and Phytofluene (800 mcg). And the standalone bottle includes Vitamin C (200 mg), whereas the version you get from Dr. Weil's website does not have any Vitamin C. If you don't find this a problem, then I do recommend this product.

Good Supplement Mar 30, 2011
By Charles Adams I have tried severl diffferent types of antioxidant supplements with varied results. This is a good one and I was reasonably satisfied with the results ,however the very best antioxidant supplement that I have tried is Natures Pearl [...] The antioxidant value is much higher and I am more satisfied with their products. : )
